It depends on when you get your license. If you receive your license when you are 17 and then you turn 18 after already getting your license then the rules still apply to you. If you receive your license after you have turned 18 then you don't have to worry about the restriction. At least that is how I would think a situation like this would work. Talk to a person a DMV near you to be certain.
